Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter.
— Christina Aguilera “Fighter”
It’s not the easy situations that make you stronger. It’s not the best of times that make you work harder. What makes you a fighter are all the struggles, the roadblocks, the overcoming you did to get to where you are now.
My T25 workout had me ready to fight today. Total Body Circuit was an uphill battle to the burnout section that ended the workout. As I was huffing and puffing my way through each move, I could have given in at any moment. I could have not given my best.
But there’s the easy thing to do and there’s the right thing to do.
I decided to do the right thing. The right thing was to prove to myself what I was capable of doing. The right thing was to show myself what I deserve. The right thing was to fight; fight for my goals, my dreams — myself.
There are many people, situations, and experiences I could thank for making me a fighter. Some would be positive, some negative. Regardless of the connotation, I am thankful that I have a 100 percent success rate of persevering.
But today’s “thank you” goes to Shaun T, for (once again) showing me that I am, indeed, a fighter. So now I pass on my fight to you. What will you fight for today? What’s worth the fight? I bet you your dreams and goals are on your list. And if they are, what are you waiting for? Go forth and fight today. You are worth it.
